Armenia asked Russia for a new loan on arms purchase

Armenia and Russia are holding discussions on the acquisition of a new military loan. Minister of Finance of Armenia Vardan Aramyan told to Radio Azatutyun yesterday.

The minister did not mention about the amount, adding that discussions have begun this year.

The Russian loan of $ 200 million is not fully spent, Aramyan said.

“We still have about $ 30 million. The products are sent to the Armenian Defense Ministry, the amount is paid to Russian contractors who supply goods to Armenia at domestic Russian prices” V.Aramyan said.

In February 2016, Russia allocated the first state export loan to Armenia for $ 200 million to buy Russian arms.
