Spain beat Iran 1-0 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Group B match at Kazan Arena late Wednesday.
The game’s only goal was scored by Spanish forward Diego Costa in the 54th minute.
Iran’s equalizer in the 62nd minute was disallowed as Iranian midfielder Saeid Ezatolahi was caught in offside position.
None of the teams were able to score in the rest of the time, leaving Spain victorious with 1-0 score.
Earlier Wednesday, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo’s early header gave Portugal a 1-0 win over Morocco in World Cup Group B match at Luzhniki Stadium.
Spain and Portugal have four points each in Group B. Two European giants are followed by Iran having three points in standings.
Morocco, who are in the last spot, do not have any points, so the North African team have been eliminated from the tournament.
