Iranian Police arrested several human rights activists during a peaceful assembly in Galeh Babek in the province of East Azerbaijan. As the Center for Human Rights in Iran reports, the activists were arrested on June 30, but it only came to light today.

According to the information, a total of 12 Azerbaijani activists were detained, half of them 12 Azeri activists were detained, half of them were released later.

According to the website of the Center for Human Rights in Iran, the police broke into the building where the peaceful assembly was held, and started beating the participants with batons. In total, 12 people were detained. Later, six of them, including the 11-year-old boy, were released. The rest were taken to the Ministry of Intelligence and the city prison in Ahar.

It is reported that detainees are denied access to a lawyer and a meeting with family members.
