The exercise involved about 3,000 military personnel, more than 30 warships, boats, up to 20 combat aircraft, helicopters.

On the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev and in accordance with the approved plan of combat training, the Navy held the next stage of the exercise with live firing.

As reported by Azeri.Today, referring to Oxu.Az, the exercises involved about 3 000 servicemen, more than 30 warships, boats, up to 20 combat aircraft, helicopters and more than 20 rocket and artillery units.

August 24, during the main stage of the exercise, the senior staff of the Ministry of Defense on a command and control ship in the Navy firing range watched the maneuvers and live firing of forces and means performing training tasks.

In the first stage of the exercises, carried out with the involvement of forces and means of the Navy, Air Force, Missile Forces and Artillery and Special Forces, measure for bringing the Navy into the full state of readiness, deployment of groups of ships and units in areas of concentration, as well as staffing and combat coordination were successfully implemented.

Planning of operations for the protection of energy infrastructure in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea and communication of combat missions to the forces participating in the exercise was completed at the next stage.

At the final stage combat aircraft and helicopters of the Air Force, forces and means of the Missile Forces and Artillery, stationed along the shoreline, as well as Special Forces in conjunction with each other carried out training and combat missions to liberate the oil platform and a merchant ship, captured by a terrorist-sabotage group, as well as the destruction of ships, illegally penetrated into the operational zone of the Caspian Sea.

During the main stage of the exercise, in which the live firings were carried out, the targets of the simulated enemy were destroyed, and the assigned tasks have been successfully completed.

Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov commended the professionalism, level of practical and moral-psychological training of personnel, as well as the readiness of units involved in the exercises.
