Dubai creates world’s most expensive tyres

These kind of tyres can make any car look cheap. Encrusted with diamonds, the set of gold-plated tyres has been officially recognised as the world’s most expensive tyres.

In keeping with the glitz and glamour that Dubai is well-known for, a local-based company is responsible for developing the Dh2.2 million ($600,000) car tyres and for creating a new world record.

The tyres were developed by Z Tyres and are covered in 24-carat gold and diamond stones, the company said in a statement.

The tyres were designed in Dubai and decorated by artisan jewellers in Italy before being covered in gold leafing by craftsmen in Abu Dhabi.

The four tyres were sold for over Dh2m and have been independently verified by the Guinness World Records as the world’s most expensive set of car tyres.

And in the true spirit of Ramadan, all proceeds were donated to charity.

Harjeev Kandhari, CEO of Z Tyres, said: “We’ve always treasured the outstanding skills and dedication involved in developing our Z Tyre range so we thought what better way to celebrate this achievement than with a record-breaking special set of tyres especially commissioned for a unique buyer.”

“In keeping with the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, Z Tyres will donate all profits from the $600,000 sale to the Zenises Foundation which focuses on improving access to education across the world,” he added.
