Shaikh Hamdan spotted at Royal Ascot

Ascot: Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Emir of Dubai Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum were spotted during the Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

Shaikh Hamdan posted a photo on his Twitter page while attending the Royal Ascot.

American mare Tepin won the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday in her first race in Europe.

Awtaad, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid’s runner, came third.

Trained by Mark Casse and ridden by Julien Leparoux, the 5-year-old Tepin won by a half-length at odds of 11-2 in front of Queen Elizabeth II.

There were some doubts over Tepin’s ability to win on soft ground, and she was running without her usual nasal strip.

Casse said “there were a lot of things stacked against today but in the end her greatness prevailed. A lot of people in the United States will be delighted with this result.”

Tepin’s owner, Robert Masterson, said “the mare is the best thing in the world.”

Tepin won the Breeders’ Cup Mile last year, and Casse said he is planning to take her back there in November.
