NATO did not provide the necessary support to Turkey in the military sphere, the Turkish media quoted the country’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim as saying Nov. 29.
Despite the fact that Turkey has repeatedly been subjected to rocket fire from Syria, NATO has not taken any steps to protect the country, and because of this Turkey has acquired Russian S-400 missile systems to protect its territories, said Yildirim.
The prime minister noted that Turkey has the right to take all the necessary measures to protect its territories.
Earlier, Turkish National Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli said that the control system of Russian S-400 Triumph surface-to-air missile systems, to be acquired by Turkey from Russia, will be under the control of the Turkish side.
Turkey will receive the first Russian S-400 missile systems in 2019.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Russia and Turkey are negotiating terms of a loan for the purchase of S-400 Triumph. Reportedly, Turkey will buy several S-400 Triumph systems for $2.5 billion, and has already transferred the first batch of payment.
