8 things to do in Dubai this week

Wine paired painting sessions, a week full of dinner deals and a serious new foodie challenge…

Back to work blues? We’ve found eight cures for that.

There’s a wine paired painting class at City Walk, comedy, a new bar opening, a host of dinner deals that you’ll be sure to want to check out and a hot dog challenge that’s not for the faint of heart.

Here are eight things to do in Dubai this week…

Sunday October 8

1. Grab a bite at a new business lunch

The recently re-opened 7Elephants in DIFC offers a business lunch menu that features seven delicious dishes from around the world, ranging in price from Dhs25 to Dhs65. There’s also a fruit platter for Dhs45 that can be shared among colleagues.

2. Paint and Grape at Grapeskin

We Love Art is hosting a new wine and painting monthly series at Grapeskin, La Ville Hotel. It kicks off tonight and welcomes all levels. You will be provided with a pre-sketched drawing to turn into your very own masterpiece. The price of the class includes all materials and equipment plus two glasses of wine.

Monday October 9
3. Take on the dirty dog challenge at The Black Lion

There’s a brand new Dirty Dog Challenge at The Black Lion for fearless foodies. The one-metre-long hot dog gets hotter and hotter as you go along, and challengers have fifteen minutes to complete it, aka eat it. Triumphant challenge-takers will get the Dirty Dog for free, but losers will have to cough up Dhs295. Hot dog lovers who need a little more time and support to devour their Dirty Dog can still order the 1-metre long hot dog from the menu for Dhs295 and share it with friends.

4. Laugh out loud at the pub

Jekyll & Hyde and The Laughter Factory are joining forces this Monday, and this month’s Laughter Factory line up includes comedy superstars Markus Birdman, Carey Marx and Andrew Ryan. Head down early and take advantage of the pub’s daily happy hour with buy one get one free drinks 5pm to 8pm.

Tuesday October 10

5. Enjoy cheese and wine for Dhs90 an hour

A sleek new wine bar has just opened in DIFC’s Al Fattan Currency house. It’s keeping it simple with a single cheese and wine offer, where guests can enjoy a selection of cheese and a variety of reds, whites, rosés or sparkling wine for Dhs90 an hour.

6. Tuck into unlimited tacos for Dhs195

You can tuck into unlimited tacos and two drinks every Tuesday at Breeze between 5pm and 9pm for Dhs195. There’s a hot and cold selection including cucumber and avocado, shrimp and mango and pulled BBQ chicken, plus, now that it’s getting cooler you can eat your tacos by the beach.

Wednesday October 11
7. Stay and Play with a creative class for the kids

Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (DUCTAC) have joined forces with coffee brand Costa Coffee to encourage art and design among the toddlers of Dubai. The Stay and Play classes allow parents to stay and enjoy interacting with each other, whilst little ones immerse themselves in weekly themed creative sessions.

8. Dine for less at one of your favourite Jumeirah spots

It’s the final week to take advantage of some great deals at Jumeriah Restaurant Week. Forty of Jumeirah’s best-loved outlets are participating, and offering set menus at prices ranging from Dhs95 to Dhs350. Enjoy dinner for under Dhs100 at The Noodle House, pub grub for Dhs150 at Dhow and Anchor, try something new at Jumeirah’s latest offerings Rockfish or Summersalt, or for Dhs350, head to the shores of Pier Chic, or Nathan Outlaw’s Mahara in the Burj Al Arab.
