Pakistan intends to use Azerbaijan’s satellite Azerspace-1

Pakistan intends to use the resources of Azerbaijan’s telecommunications satellite.

Pakistan is currently exploring the possibilities of using the resources of Azerbaijan’s telecommunications satellite Azerspace-1, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Alizade told Trend in an interview.

“This issue was previously discussed during a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in the past year. Azerbaijan offered Pakistan to use the resources of the national telecommunications satellite. This issue is being considered by relevant bodies of Pakistan and there is a plan to establish cooperation in this sphere.”, – the diplomat said.

The first geostationary satellite of Azerbaijan was launched into orbit at orbital position 46° east in February 2013. The launch of the second geostationary satellite Azerspace-2 into orbit, which will be located at orbital position 45° east, is expected in 2017.

The low-Earth-orbit satellite Azersky, which is used together with SPOT-6 satellite of the French company “Airbus Defense and Space” to format groups to provide services in remote sensing of the Earth, is also at the disposal of “Azercosmos” OJSC.
