US President Donald Trump says he wants safe zones to be built in Syria and elsewhere for refugees, to be paid for by Persian Gulf countries.

Trump said refugees would be able to live in the zones safely, adding that this would keep people out of the US who might be terrorists or otherwise want to do the country harm.

“We want people that are going to be great for our country,” he said, speaking at a campaign-style rally in Florida. “We don’t want people with bad, bad ideas.”
