Mosul: 2 IS commanders captured by Iraqi forces

The Iraqi War Media Cell on Wednesday confirmed the capture of two ISIS commanders in the east of Mosul, northern Iraq.

The Iraqi security forces also seized a sizable amount of explosive materials from locations used by retreating ISIS militants as hideouts.

The name and exact ranks of captured ISIS commanders remains unknown, but it is revealed that the capture was during a searching operation to clear the liberated areas from ISIS presence.

Eastern Mosul has been witnessing fierce military confrontations between Iraqi army and ISIS militants since October 17 last year when the Mosul assault was kicked off.

After nearly 100 days, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi last Tuesday declared victory in recapturing all neighborhoods on the eastern bank of Tigris River.
