Turkey: Russian, who wants to join to ISIS, arrested

A court in eastern Turkey arrested a Russian national, accused of links with the Daesh militant group, the province’s governor’s press service said Friday.

On Wednesday Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a national mobilization in the face of the terrorist threat following the recent terror attack in Istanbul.

“The Russian national … was detained on December 3 in the province of Agri during a counterterror operation. Fake documents, photos of the detainee in front of IS [Daesh] symbols, as well as data on digital media were seized in the house where he was detained. The court decided to arrest [him] after examining the evidence for the duration of the investigation of accusation of IS [Daesh] membership,” the Agri governor’s press service told RIA Novosti.
