An Israeli soldier died late Wednesday after the tank he was in crashed and flipped over during a military training exercise in the Golan Heights in northern Israel.
The soldier was identified as Sgt. Ido Ben-Ari, a 20-year-old tank commander in the 401st Brigade from Ramat Hasharon. Ben-Ari’s family has been notified, and the army is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Three other Israel Defense Forces soldiers were lightly injured in the incident, which occurred on Mount Shifon, and all three were taken to a local hospital. The incident is the latest in a number of training accidents in the Golan in recent months.
