Azerbaijan is invited to the OPEC meeting in Vienna

The Azerbaijani side has received the invitation to the meeting of ministers of OPEC member-states and countries that are not members of the cartel in Vienna to discuss the oil price in late October.

It was reported to RIA Novosti by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan Zamina Aliyeva.

In late September, at an informal meeting in Algeria, OPEC agreed to limit production in the range of 32.5-33 million barrels of oil per day; however, there is no agreement on specific limits for each of the countries of the organization. The final decision must be made on the official meeting of OPEC on November 30 in Vienna. The cartel expects to join the measures to stabilize the markets of a number of other oil-producing countries, primarily Russia.

“We received an invitation a few minutes ago. Decisions and discussions that will be held at the meeting are important for us. The invitation is addressed to the Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev. The meeting will be held in Vienna from 28 to 31 October”, – Aliyeva said.

Earlier, in an interview with RIA Novosti, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Baku is ready to unilaterally refuse to increase its oil production, without waiting for decisions of other manufacturers.
