Couple on trial for brothel and prostitution in Abu Dhabi

A woman and her husband have gone on trial accused of running a brothel and forcing women into prostitution.

Abu Dhabi Criminal Court heard how the Chinese woman and her Moroccan husband kept about a dozen women in their apartment and made them have sex with a series of male customers.

According to court documents police raided the brothel in Abu Dhabi’s Tourist Club district after receiving a tip off.

Police also arrested 11 women, from China and Pakistan, who were found in the apartment and are accused of prostitution.

Five men who were in the brothel at the time were also detained.

“Sometimes they would take the women to various apartments and forced them to have sex with different men,” a prosecutor said.

The couple denied charges of running a brothel and forcing people into prostitution.

They told the court they rented part of their apartment to the women after getting into financial difficulty, and had no involvement in the business.

The 11 women are also on trial accused of prostitution and deny the charges.

The five men caught in the brothel are also on trial and denied charges they paid for sex.

All claimed they had visited the apartment for massage services.

The trial was adjourned until next month.
