Global Liveability Ranking 2016 says that the capital of Azerbaijan has become the 9th city of the world by pace of improving its liveability index (+1.6% in the rating for the last 5 years), outrunning the city of Honolulu (Hawaii, U.S.), which closes Top 10, on this parameter.

The world’s best city with most improved liveability is Iranian capital Tehran (+5% for 5 years).

However, both Baku (103rd place among 140 cities) and Tehran (126th) are still far from Melbourne, which has been on the top for the last 6 years.

If it can be considered as consolation, Moscow has lost 5.6% and Kiev – 25.1% in the rating for the last 5 years and both cities are in ranks of cities, whose liveability worsens most rapidly.

The journal makes its indices on about 30 qualitative and quantitative factors in five main categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.
