Clinton camp calls Trump’s Dubai deal “ironic”

Hillary Clinton’s campaign took aim at Donald Trump’s ethics on Sunday, branding a deal the mogul made with a Dubai-based sovereign wealth fund as “ironic.”

Donald Trump bought his Turnberry golf course from an Arab country and has made tremendous profit by making deals with countries with all sorts of human rights abuse records,” campaign manager Robbie Mook said in an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday.

The attack was unexpected, especially since it might open up Clinton for accusations of hypocrisy.

Hillary Clinton and her family’s entities have long accepted money from Arab countries – and even countries with not so stellar human rights records.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has given up to $25 million to the Clinton Foundation, Qatar has given up to $5 million, United Arab Emirates has give up to $5 million, and Oman has given up to $5 million, as well.

In Sunday’s interview, Fox host Wallace did raise the specter of Clinton’s own ethical challenges.

But defended criticism of Clinton’s ethics by saying, “Well, Hillary Clinton has actually been the most transparent secretary of state in our history. She has released all of her emails. She has released her schedules. You know, I think the record speaks for itself here.”

Mook did not say, however, that the release of Clinton’s emails is coming under a court order forcing her to do so.
