The curtain will rise for the first time on August 31 when one of the world’s most prestigious tenors, Plácido Domingo, performs the inaugural concert, an event which sold out the magnificent auditorium in under three hours when tickets were released to the public in April.

Dubai Opera will offer a 2,000-seat multi-format venue for opera, theatre, concerts, art exhibitions, orchestra, film, sports events and seasonal programmes, within The Opera District.

For the lucky few people who got their hands on a ticket to see Domingo, the doors of Dubai Opera will officially open at 6pm and the celebrated tenor’s performance will begin at 8:00pm, promptly.

Dubai Opera urges ticket holders to plan their journey well as latecomers will only be permitted to the auditorium at appropriate times.

The venue boasts a range of parking facilities including Dubai Opera parking, valet parking and boulevard parking.

Although there is no mandatory dress code in place, guests are being encouraged to dress their best for the occasion with many people expected to be in black tie and formal gowns for the first night.

Hats and big hairstyles are best avoided, they state.

The Dubai Opera programme is available to view online and tickets to ‘The Pearl Fishers’, ‘The Barber of Seville’, ‘Opera Without Words’, ‘Coppelia’, ‘Giselle’, ‘Postcards from Vienna’, ‘Mozart Gala’, ‘Impossible’, ‘Jose Carreras’, ‘Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons’, ‘Sara Baras’, Anoushka Shankar, Bejart Ballet Lausanne, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘The Nutcracker on Ice’, ‘Slava’s Snowshow’ and ‘West Side Story’ can all be purchased online.
