Russia used ballistic missiles in raids targeting Jaish al-Islam sites in the Syrian province of Idlib, unverified sources said on Thursday.

“Russian forces hit Jeish al-Islam sites using ballistic missiles and the strikes caused a huge blast in locations hit,” the sources said, New Arab reported.

A local source whose claims can not immediately be verified further said that losses were limited to material damage as no deaths or injuries were reported, adding that the strikes were likely launched from the sea.

Moscow has designated Jeish al-Islam as a terrorist group but the militant group had been involved in UN-led Geneva negotiations on Syria before it dropped out of the talks several months ago.

No official source has confirmed the attack.

Earlier, Russia also accused Syrian militants of using weapons loaded with “poisonous agent” in Aleppo, its defense ministry said.

Lieutenant-General Sergei Chvarkov was cited by Russia’s TASS news agency as saying that the Nouriddeen al-Zinki terrorist group on Tuesday launched weapons packed with an unnamed “poisonous agent” from a militant-held neighborhood to a government-controlled area of Aleppo.
