An 11-year-old boy died and two others were wounded on Oct. 11 due to the explosion of an unidentified object while they were playing in Turkey’s southeastern province of Hakkari, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Three children found the item at the site of the former Vali Erdoğan Gürbüz Primary School, which was damaged in armed clashes and later demolished in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari.
The boy, identified as Umut Ayvalık, succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the Yüksekova State Hospital.
The body of Ayvalık has been transferred to the forensics institute at the hospital for medical examinations.
His companions were also taken to hospitals for medical treatment.
Police have launched investigations after initial examinations following the incident.
Back on March 31 a similar incident occurred in the Cizre district of the southeastern province of Şırnak, when four-year-old Harun Çağlı and six-year-old Ayşenur Geçit were killed in the explosion of an unidentified object.
