Saudi health minister says Hepatitis C treatment available with 95% cure rate

The treatment of Hepatitis C virus is now available with a cure rate exceeding 95% in Saudi Arabia, according to Saudi Minister of Health Tawfiq Al Rabiah.

In the past, Hepatitis C was thought of as an incurable disease, but efforts for Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health have been working on treatments to change that.

“For treatment call 937. We seek to eliminate it completely in Saudi Arabia,” Al Rabiah tweeted on Monday just days after the World Hepatitis Day celebrated on July 28.

Hepatitis C is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis C virus which can cause both acute and chronic hepatitis, ranging in severity from a mild illness.
