U.S Secretary of State spoke about the task to curtail the Nord Stream project, hinting at Azerbaijan

U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke about the task to eliminate the supply of gas to Europe via the Nord Stream-2.
According to Mike Pompeo, it is difficult for European countries to push back against Moscow because of their reliance on the Russian energy supplies and the main goal of USA is to provide the Old World with new sources of gas, including Caucasus.
We should continue to push the Nord Stream 2 to be ended” – Pompeo said.
The Russian Embassy in Washington reacted to Pompeo’s speech: “By attacking Nord Stream 2, Washington is trying to force Europe to buy its uncompetitive liquefied natural gas. Geopolitics once again interferes in economics in a most blatant way to discredit claims about diversified supplies”.
The pipeline with an annual capacity of 55 billion cubic meters will be laid under the Baltic Sea and run from the Russian coast to a hub in Germany. Its launch is scheduled for 2019.
As Minval.az informed, trans-Anatolian pipeline (TANAP) is to be launched this year on 12 of June. This date is celebrated in Russia as “Day of Russia”.
TANAP is an alternative to the Russian project of gas supply to Europe – “Turkish stream” pipeline. Trans-Anatolian pipeline is a part of the Southern gas corridor. It is assumed that fuel from the Caspian region will be supplied to the EU countries through Georgia and Turkey via this pipeline.
