Turkey and UK have a special relationship – Turkish minister

Turkey and the U.K. have a special relationship, as London understood Ankara most correctly after the coup attempt in 2016, Turkey’s EU Minister Omer Celik said on Friday in London, Anadolu Agency reported .

“It is clear that we have a special relationship with the U.K. It comes first among countries, which understood Turkey most correctly following the coup attempt […] They have reiterated their support to the elected president and elected institutions in every occasion,” Çelik said.

Çelik also added that the U.K. had a correct attitude in terms of alliance relationship and advised Turkey’s allies to learn from the U.K., after his meeting with with high-level British officials from defense and defense industries at Turkey’s Embassy in London.

Çelik is in London to attend the annual bilateral “Tatlı Dil Forum”, a day bringing together various businessmen and politicians from both Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also visit the U.K. from Sunday to Tuesday next week to attend the same event.
