New land plots for the growing of fruit gardens in the Khazar and Garadagh districts of Baku, as well as Salyan and Hajigabul districts of Azerbaijan, have been identified and mapped, and the appeals for their allocation have been sent to the relevant district executive authorities, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources said in a message.
In addition, in connection with agroforestry development before 2021 at the expense of own funds of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources without attracting additional funds from the state budget, it is planned to grow 87.6 million fruit seedlings of 28 varieties (including five citrus varieties for the growing of citrus orchards in Azerbaijan’s southern region).
In 2017, the Office of the President of Azerbaijan gratuitously transferred 948,850 mulberry seedlings to organizations and farmers engaged in cocoon production, district executive authorities and municipalities for the growing of mulberry gardens in various districts.
