“The Geneva meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents is a positive step. But it was just a step. More needs to be done”. This was said by the U.S Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta, APA reports.

According to him, Co-Chairs of the OSCE are currently working to organize a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries.

“Work is underway to keep the process moving ahead and realize a peaceful settlement of this conflict which has been going on for too long,” added the U.S. ambassador. In addition, according to the Ambassador, the USA continues to provide support to the leaders of the two countries for a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The diplomat also added that on a recent visit to Washington he met with the American Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Andrew Schofer.

“We had discussions as to how to what should be done in order to move the settlement process forward. After the new administration came to power in the US, decisions were made about in what way this issue should be continued and it was decided to appoint a new co-chair to the Minsk Group. We are continuing our work in this direction,” he said.
