Soldier killed in ‘non-combat’ incident in Iraq

A U.S. soldier died Saturday in Iraq while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, the Defense Department said in a Monday statement.

Cpl. Todd McGurn of Riverside, Calif., died Nov. 25 in Baghdad “as a result of a non-combat related incident,” the Pentagon statement read.

McGurn was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas.

The Pentagon did not release any further details and said the incident is under investigation.
