The OSCE PA has adopted a draft resolution on multiculturalism for the first time

The draft resolution entitled “Multiculturalism – The role of cultural values in the development of democracy in the context of globalization”, prepared by a member of the Azerbaijani delegation Tahir Mirkishili, was discussed at the 26th Annual Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk.

Having spoken at the debate, Tahir Mirkishili highlighted the role of multiculturalism values in the development of peoples and countries in the world, and stressed the importance of preserving and developing these values in every country for political, economic and democratic development. Speaking about the declarations of the Baku Humanitarian Forum, the member of parliament brought to the attention of the participants that Azerbaijan has great experience in this field and that this draft resolution will contribute to the establishment of mutual trust in the OSCE region and preserving the safe life of the planet as a whole. The MPs emphasized the importance of the draft resolution, saying that it was the first such document within the OSCE documents and an innovation in international law. At the end of the debate, a draft resolution was adopted.

The draft resolution basically aims to contribute to democratic development and security in the OSCE region by preserving and developing diverse cultural values, and apply the traditions of multiculturalism of Azerbaijan to the international law.
