Le Monde on murder of Zahra and one million Azerbaijani refugees

Azerbaijani girl Zahra became another victim of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Armenia, which continues provocations, bears direct responsibility for the death of the child and her grandmother, says one of the authoritative French newspapers Le Monde.

“This little child and her grandmother paid with their lives for an endless cycle of violence around the undeclared war. The photos disseminated on the Internet are terrible.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is one of the most deadly ones in the post-Soviet area and has already led to thousands of deaths.

But that’s not all: since 1994, one million Azerbaijanis have fled from occupied Karabakh to Azerbaijan, 20 percent of whose territory is occupied. There have regularly been fatal attacks on the line of contact.

Armenia bears direct responsibility for the death of the child and her grandmother – these deaths are a continuation of the obvious aggressive policy of Yerevan, in particular, against almost 4,000 Azerbaijani prisoners in Armenian camps who, due to inhuman treatment, were poisoned, tortured or killed.

International institutions have repeatedly confirmed these facts and condemned Armenia, which continues to act with impunity, despite international law. Despite OSCE warnings, Yerevan continues to Armenize Nagorno-Karabakh, carrying out ethnic cleansing, scrupulously and destructively eradicating all traces of Azerbaijani heritage in the region.

After several years of complete disengagement and disinterest of the international community, this is the time when France plays an important role in resolving this conflict, and especially because, as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, we should call upon Armenia to observe international law and do everything to have Yerevan punished for its odious policy.
