A secretary gave a man the lesson of his life when she slapped him hard once he groped her while she was climbing the stairs up to her house.
The 25-year-old Filipina secretary was said to have going upstairs to reach her house in a building when the 32-year-old Indian man ran into her at the staircase in March.
The secretary instantly turned around and slapped the man hard in his face before he ran away.
Records said the Filipina ran after the man in to get hold of him and sought pedestrians’ help to restrain the man.
The man was prevented from running away and police took him into custody shortly after they were called to Al Satwa area where the incident happened.
Prosecutors accused the suspect of molesting the woman.
The suspect pleaded not guilty when he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday.
He contended before presiding judge Urfan Omar that he had slipped and lost his balance and ‘unintentionally and mistakenly’ touched the woman.
The 25-year-old woman told prosecutors that she was going upstairs at the building where she lives while the suspect was going down.
“The man stood sideways because the staircase is very narrow … once I reached near him, he groped me from the right. I turned around quickly and slapped him hard. He pushed my hand away and ran down. I cried for help and pedestrians helped me get hold of him,” she told prosecutors.
The suspect was quoted admitting to prosecutors that he was heavily drunk when the incident happened. The suspect said that he was jobless and had been drinking at his house and when he went out and saw the woman, he molested her.
A policeman told prosecutors that pedestrians had already restrained the suspect once they arrived at the scene.
“The woman was crying and the suspect seemed drunk. Upon confronting him, he denied having molested the woman,” the policeman told prosecutors.
A ruling in the case will be heard on June 19.
