The first shopping festival has kicked off in the capital of Azerbaijan. In this regard, a celebration was held in the historical center of Baku – Icheri Sheher (Old City). The celebrations included colorful traditional and modern dances.
Residents and guests of the capital will be able to take advantage of special discounts in 250 stores throughout the month.
During the festival, supported by the Ministry of Taxes, as well as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, the Tax Free system will be applied for the first time regarding Azerbaijani citizens. The stores that joined the VAT refund system will be marked with special stickers “Baku Shopping Festival – Tax Free”. The VAT will be returned only to all those who purchased goods at sites with such a sign.
At the end of every week, entertainment events will be held and raffles will be drawn throughout the festival.
The general director of the shopping festival in Istanbul (Istanbul Shopping Fest) Hicran Ozbuk highly appreciated the tax benefits introduced for the period of the festival in Baku in an interview with the “Anadolu” agency.
According to her, the attention towards shopping tourism is growing constantly in the world. “Festivals are very important in terms of attracting tourists to the country. Such activities enliven the city life, create a special atmosphere and attract guests” Ozbuk said, noting that the seventh İstanbul Shopping Fest will be held this year.
The general director of Istanbul Shopping Fest noted that taking into account the experience of the Turkish metropolis, it can be stated that the same positive effect will be received in Baku.
It should be noted that the first shopping festival in Baku will last until May 10.
