Kuwaiti police have detained a woman who filmed her Ethiopian maid screaming for help before falling from a window – instead of helping her.
Detectives arrested the employer for filming the incident and then posting it to social media.
Paramedics rescued the maid and rushed her to hospital where she was found to have suffered a broken arm and bleeding from her nose and ears, according to the al-Seyassah newspaper.
The Kuwait Society for Human Rights condemned the incident, saying there was “no care for her life,” and called for an official investigation.
In the disturbing video, the woman dangles by just one hand she hangs outside the window, and screams “hold me, hold me”.
But instead of helping, the woman’s Kuwaiti employer simply stands and films her, and can be heard laughing “Oh crazy, come back.”
The maid’s grip finally fails her and she plummets seven floors, smashing into a metal awning.
Paramedics rushed her to hospital where she was found to have suffered a broken arm and bleeding from her nose and ear, it was reported by The Guardian.
Police have now referred the employer to prosecutors for failing to help the victim.
