Third top official of the ISIS Takfiri terror group, Abubakir al-Khatuni, was killed on Thursday in the Iraqi forces’ bombardments near the town of Tel Afar, west of Mosul.
Iraqi media cited Hezbollah Brigades of Shi’ite Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Sha’bi) saying the ISIS official was killed in an operation conducted by the Hezbollah Brigades and the rest of Hashd al-Sha’bi.
According to the reports, Khatuni was one of the “most dangerous” Wahhabis, who was killed after the Shi’ite forces received “subtle” intelligence information about his location.
Shi’ite forces, as the reports indicate, also took control over some adjacent areas of Tel Afar, including Ain Talawi which has been a stronghold for the armed group who conducted successive attacks on the neighboring areas.
