Syrian refugee ‘raped wife in front of toddler son for not wearing her headscarf indoors’ in Germany – Photo, Video

The 34 year-old Syrian, who has not been named, is facing court in Dortmund for brutally “ripping off his wife’s clothes and raping her”.

The alleged attack is said to have taken place on August 30, 2016 when the refugee humiliated his wife by assaulting her in front of their one-and-a-half-year-old son.

But the defendant has denied all charges and said that “by Allah” the allegations are made up.

Instead, he claims that the case is a calculated attempt by his wife to get rid of him.

But German police records show that he has a history of domestic violence.

According to police, his wife reported several other incidents of domestic violence in the run up to the rape allegation.

Last summer, police were called to the couple’s house five times within two weeks due to reports of violence meted out by him.

The abused woman even lived separately from her husband in a bid to prevent more violence.

But her husband repeatedly flew into a rage after he believed that she was acting “too liberally” since arriving in Europe in 2015.

He accused her of dressing too revealing, nursing their baby in front of other men, and not wearing her headscarf inside their flat.

He said: “I was not ok with that. That is not what our customs and practices are like”.

In a bid to “punish” his wife, the defendant allegedly kicked the heavily-pregnant woman in the stomach.

He also destroyed the front door of their flat and broke in via an open window to steal her resident permit – which was her main form of identification.

The defendant is currently in custody following his arrest on rape charges.

A verdict in the case is expected on 17 February.
