Earlier this year scientists from the University of Melbourne and Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine rediscovered the mummified head of Meritamun, an Egyptian woman who died around 2,000 years ago. The mummified head had been sitting in the basement of the school for the last 90 years. Rather than let it continue to languish, the researchers enlisted the help of 3D printers and a sculptor to bring the young woman back to life, so to speak. News of their achievement broke back in late August, but Mashable just put together a really useful video that shows how the arduous process unfolded and the amazing final result.
