Drake’s feelings for Rihanna are well known – he practically admitted his love for her on the world stage at this year’s MTV VMAs. So, is it really a shock that the Canadian rapper will just so happen to be in Abu Dhabi on the very same weekend that she’s scheduled to perform in the city?
Hot and Cold Romance
On-and off is the only way to describe the relationship between Drake, 30, and 28-year-old RiRi. The chart-topping pair were initially thought to have dated a few years ago, in the midst of Rihanna’s turbulent union with ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown. At one point, a nightclub brawl, which was said to be over Rihanna, broke out between Drake and Brown in New York.
Numerous musical collaborations later, including Take Care, and this year’s Work and Too Good, rendezvous around the globe, and on-stage performances packed with chemistry, the duo’s flirtation came to a head at the August MTV VMAs, when Drake presented Rihanna with the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award and admitted: “She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old.” After the public declaration, the pair were said to be giving their romance a shot once more, but last month, according to E! News, their hectic schedules caused them to split.
Ready, Set, Repeat
However, with both stars set to be in Abu Dhabi in just a week’s time at the Formula One Grand Prix, is it back on between them? Or is Drake chasing Rihanna once more? While RiRi is one of three headline acts performing at the official after-race concerts, Drake is set to host a party at VIP Room’s pop-up nightclub in the capital. And who is set to host the party with him? None other than Rihanna’s younger brother, MC Rorrey Fenty, also known as Gallest. Coincidence or not? Will sparks be flying again for the two here in the UAE?
