Europe needs Turkey as a strategic partner says Bulgarian PM Borissov

Turkey should remain a strategic partner of Europe because no border police could cope with several million migrants, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov said on October 6 as the official launch of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency was held in his country.

The launch event was held at Bulgaria’s Kapitan Andreevo Border Checkpoint at the Bulgarian external border with Turkey and included a presentation of the vehicles, equipment and teams of the new agency, which is being launched less than a year after it was first proposed by the European Commission.

Borissov said that Bulgaria had received the first 90 million euro of the 160 million euro European aid promised to assist Bulgaria secure its borders.
