A 43-year-old driver was sentenced to a month in jail and fined Dh3,000 for crashing into a Dubai Tram after jumping a red light.

Dubai Traffic Court also ordered the suspension of the Arab man’s driving licence for three months.

Chief prosecutor Salah Bu Farousha said the incident happened at the end of September when the man jumped the light and hit a tram carriage, causing the tram to halt and spreading panic among passengers. No one was injured in the incident.
