A village guard was martyred and two soldiers injured early Friday by a bomb planted along a highway by the PKK terrorist organization in Turkey’s southeastern Sirnak province.
According to military sources, speaking on condition of anonymity due to security concerns, PKK terrorists detonated the explosive as a military vehicle was traveling along the Sirnak-Cizre highway.
Ambulances rushed to the scene following the explosion.
The wounded soldiers were immediately taken to Sirnak State Hospital.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU and resumed its 30-year armed campaign in July 2015.
Since then, PKK terrorist attacks have martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists have been killed in army operations.
