A young man has gone on trial accused of posting inappropriate pictures of himself dressed in women’s clothes on Instagram.
Abu Dhabi Criminal Court was told that the 21-year-old Lebanese man is a homosexual. The prosecutors said the man posted photos and his phone number on the social media app.
In the posts, he claimed to be offering sexual services to other men, the court heard.
The pictures showed the man wearing short women’s clothes, wigs and make-up, the court heard.
A police undercover officer posing as a customer contacted the man and made an appointment. The man was then arrested in a sting operation when he met the undercover cop.
Prosecutors charged the man with practising homosexuality and promoting the illegal act on social media. He denies the charges.
The defendant told the court that his friend posted the pictures on social media with his phone number without his knowledge.
The trial has been adjourned until October 26.
