Where to live the excitement of Rio 2016? – perfect places in Dubai

Some of the best sports bars in Dubai to watch Olympics from Rio 2016. Find out about drinks deals and more

MCGETTIGAN’S DWTC

2012_mcget_1_base

As well as showing all the main events live from Rio, McGettigan’s have brought their Olympic challenge to your table. We’re not entirely sure any of the athletes will be tucking in, but we’ll be just as proud of Usain Bolt’s 100m dash as we will be to see anyone polish off a 32oz’s of steak burger in 32 minutes plus fries & coleslaw. And you do, it’s freem rather than Dhs199 for lesser ‘athletes’. Sports fans can feast on numerous HD TVs and even big projector screens throughout.

BRUNSWICK SPORTS CLUB

Tom and Serg’s Al Barsha pub has six TV screens in the bar area and an even bigger screen with projectors in their courtyard. It’s hidden away in a corner of Mall of the Emirates, so if you have to go on an urgent shopping trip, there’s no need to let that get between you and your next sporting fix.

BARASTI

The giant air-conditioned tent, which sprung up for the Euros, is staying right where it is for the rest of the summer, so you can watch the Olympics in comfort. With the two giant screens – one in the tent and one more on the beach – it’ll be difficult for you to miss any of the action.

GARDEN ON 8

At Media One Hotel, you can watch everything in a pub garden, surrounded by gnomes and a wishing well. These are the summer Olympics, after all, so why not be outside? The venue is air-conditioned and all the action will be up on Garden On 8’s giant screen.

The ever-popular watering hole in Garhoud is one of the best places to be if you want to cheer on the Irish athletes in Rio, but support of all countries is welcome.

KICKERS SPORTS BAR

Being in the sportiest part of Dubai, Kickers seems like the obvious place to go and watch the Olympics. And it has screens both inside and out. And if after watching an event you feel inspired to take up a sport, Fit Republik, with its Olympic-sized swimming pool, is just next door, too.

MR TOAD’S PUB & KITCHEN

Screens are dotted around the bar and dining area. Mr. Toad’s is a non-smoking venue, but there’s a garden area outside complete with another screen so you won’t miss a thing.

OLEARY’S

2016_8_olympics_base

This dry, Boston-themed sports restaurant will be serving plenty of wings and burgers to see you through the Olympics. And, more importantly, there are 24, 55-inch and 60-inch screens dotted around the venue, so wherever you sit, you should be able to catch some of the Olympic events. If you get tired of watching them, though, you can always try your hand at the arcade machines or air hockey table.

PERRY & BLACKWELDER’S

2015_perry_1_base

Come for the sports, stay for the American smokehouse cuisine. There are TV screens on both floors of the bar and restaurant, which you can see from wherever you’re sat – in the booths, at the bar, or on the tall tables.

QUBE SPORTS BAR

qubebar_1_base

There are more than enough screens at Meydan’s sports bar – it gets its name from the four huge screens in the middle of the bar, for a start – and they’ll be showing everything from Rio. You can even try your hand at some sports yourself, but you’ll have to settle for pool or darts instead of lobbing a javelin. And remember, a dart is not a javelin…

REFORM SOCIAL & GRILL

2016_5_olympics_base

If you went to Reform during the Euros this summer, you will have noticed the huge air-conditioned tent that popped up in the orchard. That’s staying put so you can watch the Olympics outside without melting. Reserve a place inside to get a front-row seat.

SPIKE BAR

2016_9_spikes_baseEmirates Golf Club’s bar will be a good place to catch the golf at this year’s Olympics, and since it’s open from early in the morning, you’ll be able to see even more of the Games than most other places in Dubai.

VELOCITY

The bar will be showing all of the action on five big screens, and if you’re there between 4pm and 8pm, you’ll also get to enjoy the happy hour, too.
