Saudi Arabia to exceed Russia, France in defense spending

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is expected to increase their defense spending from $48 billion last year to $52 billion by 2019, IHS Janes Defense analysts reported on Monday.

This $4 billion surge in Saudi Arabia’s defense spending is expected to surpass both Russia and France, leaving only China and the United States above this oil rich Gulf nation.

Despite their willingness to spend billions on the latest military technology, the Saudi regime is still struggling to defeat anti-government militias in Yemen.

Yemen is considered the poorest country in the Arab world; however, homegrown groups like the Houthi forces have enjoyed significant success against the richest Arab country: Saudi Arabia.
