The assessments of the Knesset Committee on Education, Culture and Sport (parliament) of Israel on the events of 1915 in Ottoman Turkey do not coincide with the assessments of Israeli FM, reports Turan.
As stated by the Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon, the committee’s decision does not reflect the official position of the State of Israel. According to him, this is just a personal opinion of the committee members.
Let us recall that earlier the chairman of the Education, Culture, and Sports Committee Yaakov Margi said that “recognizing the “Armenian genocide”- is our moral obligation”.
Margi’s call was supported by several other members of this committee.
