An Italian ship loaded with medical supplies has left the port of Brindisi heading towards the Libyan port of Misrata, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement.
According to the statement, the shipment includes medical equipment and essential drugs sufficient for about 20,000 people for three months.
The initiative came in response to the Libyan unity government’s call for urgent assistance and is part of a wide range of humanitarian assistance provided by Italy to support the most vulnerable groups in Libya.
This is the third shipment of medical aid provided by Italy to Libya over the past three months.
