65 Palestinian kids under house arrest

Israeli occupation authorities have put 65 Palestinian children under house arrest and 12 others in administrative detention since the start of this year, Quds Press reported yesterday.

Head of PLO’s Committee for Prisoners and Freed Prisoners Issa Qaraqe said Israeli occupation authorities expelled 18 Palestinian children from their hometowns during the first half of the year.

Qaraqe described these acts as “violations against the rights of children,” and considered them “an Israeli defiance to the international community and UN resolutions.”

In some cases, Israel placed Palestinian minors under house arrest instead of putting them in prison so that their houses are subject to sudden raids to check whether these children are complying with the rulings.
