A new advertisement released by Qatar Airways said Monday that the skies should be free of restrictions, according to media reports.

“The sky, there should be no borders up here,” a CNN report quoted the advertisement as saying. “As an airline we don’t believe in boundaries, we believe in bringing people together.”

The remarks came two weeks after Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen announced cutting diplomatic ties and severed transport links with Qatar for national security reasons, as they accused Doha of supporting terrorism. Qatar, for its part, said such moves are not “justified.”

Qatar Airways has been hit hard, losing 18 destinations and about 50 flights a day, media reports said.

On June 12, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al-Baker told CNN that he called on the United Nations to declare the measures on Qatar “illegal.”

Two days of technical talks, which involved transport ministers and aviation officials from several Gulf states and Egypt, along with senior officials from the UN’s International Civil Aviation Organization, held last week, however, failed to resolve the Gulf airspace dispute.
