The King Abdullah City of Atomic and Renewable Energy will receive a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on July 15-24.

The delegation will carry out an integrated review of the kingdom’s atomic energy infrastructure.

They will assess Saudi Arabia’s efforts to develop infrastructure for the development of atomic energy for peaceful uses, and to ensure that the national atomic energy project is harmonized with IAEA requirements.

The aim is to promote the principle of transparency, a Saudi Press Agency statement said.

At the end of the review, the IAEA will make recommendations and proposals.

The King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy will then develop a plan of action in cooperation with business partners and with the participation of government agencies from the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources and the interior, education, environment and health ministries.

The Saudi Geological Survey and Meteorological and Environmental Protection Authority, as well as the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and electricity, water and electricity authorities will also be taking part.

Saudi Arabia has been an IAEA Member State since 1962.
