Iraq’s government has invited foreign energy firms to bid for the rights to explore for oil and gas in the country’s border areas near Iran and Kuwait.
Iraq’s Oil Ministry said in a statement on November 26 that eight areas are being offered in the south and east of the country along with a ninth offshore oil site in Iraq’s territorial waters off the Persian Gulf.
The ministry said government officials would hold a press conference on November 27 to announce further details about bidding for the exploration blocks.
