Istanbul’s Bosphorus Strait was closed to marine traffic on Aug. 10 for a research and rescue effort to reach a man who had been missing since last month.
17-year-old Furkan Yıldırım who had gone for a swim in Istanbul’s Bosphorus, went missing after getting caught in a drift on July 15.
Rescue teams have been searching for Yıldırım’s body since early in the morning.
The Istanbul Port Directorate said in a statement that the marine traffic was suspended as of 8.45 a.m. for the underwater research and rescue activities.
