In the next two weeks, the Russian military will be preparing for missile launches off the coast of Syria, as reported by Interfax citing information contained in the international notification for aviation personnel – Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) and a navigational warning for seafarers.
According to the warnings, missile launches will be taking place in the eastern Mediterranean on July 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28, from 08:00 to 18:00 Moscow time. As the agency notes, the same sea area was previously closed for launches of the Kalibr missiles by the Russian frigates, Admiral Essen, Admiral Grigorovich and the Krasnodar submarine.
Six Kalibr cruise missiles were launched on the positions of Islamists in Syria on June 23rd. According to the Ministry of Defense, as a result, the command posts and ammunition depots of the Islamic State fighters in the Syrian province of Ham were hit.
The launch of Russian missiles was observed by an American P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft. They conducted flights over the missile launching site at an altitude of 8,000 meters.
