A senior Hezbollah official warned on Wednesday that the Lebanon-based terrorist group will “surprise the Israeli military” in any future armed conflict.
The official, Hashem Safieddine, made the comments during an interview that was televised on Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV and was quoted by the Al-Masdar Al-Arabi news website.
Safieddine claimed that his organization has been changing and developing their tactics over the last decade.
He added that Israel’s assessment of Hezbollah’s weaponry is highly inaccurate, despite their prevalent reports on the Lebanese organization’s arsenal.
The interview with Safieddine aired on the 11th anniversary of the Second Lebanon War.
Hezbollah officials continue to issue threats against Israel. Most of these threats come from the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who has been forced to live in an underground bunker since the 2006 war – though he denies this fact.
Nasrallah several weeks ago warned Israel against attacking Lebanon or Syria, claiming that “hundreds of thousands” of Arab and Muslim fighters would be ready to strike back.
In February, he warned Israel to “count to one million” before waging a new war on Lebanon, stressing that Hezbollah will not abide by any “red lines” in any future confrontation.
A year ago, Safieddine said in an interview that “Israel is closer than ever before to its demise” and warned that “the time for operations will come.”
